Transparency is fundamental to building trust between local government and the residents we serve. In the City of Darien, our elected officials, city staff, police department, and public works teams work diligently to keep our community informed about important issues, daily operations, our budgeting and expenditure procedures, as well as upcoming community events.
We strive to reach as many residents as possible through a variety of communication channels, including our weekly Darien Direct Connect, Facebook, X, our Darien Connections Newsletter, which is mailed to every household three times a year, plus our center city electronic message board.
Transparency goes beyond sharing information; it means ensuring residents have access to the governing process. In Darien, every city council meeting, commission and committee meeting, as well as our goal-setting and budget review process, are open to the public. Residents are encouraged not only to attend, but to also ask questions and engage with city council members, staff, and committee members.
While we are proud of our commitment to open government, we recognize there is always room for improvement. We welcome your ideas on how we can communicate more effectively in order to better serve you, our Darien residents.
In Darien, resident participation is an essential part of good government. We encourage you to stay informed, get involved, and contact us whenever you have a question, concern, or suggestion. Working together, we can continue to make Darien a transparent, responsive, and engaged community.
