This week’s press release includes information about a police officer responding to a solicitor complaint. The officer asked the subjects to provide the required permit to solicit in Darien, which they did not have. One of the solicitors had an active out of state warrant from Collin County, Texas for theft. This is a reminder for residents to:
- Call 911 for police services. Some residents are reluctant to call 911, thinking they are bothering the police or consider a situation to be a minor one. The police department welcomes and encourages residents to call 911 without hesitation
- If you do not want a solicitor to knock on your door, you can pick up a no solicitors sticker to put on your house. If you have a no solicitor’s sticker, it is a local ordinance violation for a solicitor to knock on your door for commercial solicitation.
